How To Make The Lace Color Match Your Scalp Perfectly?
Even though the wig’s lace color doesn’t exactly match your skin tone, there are ways to fix this.
How to darker lace color
For example, if you find that the lace is lighter than your skin tone, you can try the following tips to darken the lace.
Tip 1: Foundation/Concealer
It’s definitely a temporary, non-lasting solution, but it’s without a doubt the easiest and quickest way to deepen your lace color. All you need is powder foundation and a brush to correct and adjust your lace color.
First, make sure your hair is flat in the midsection, then apply a small amount of concealer to your concealer brush and dab into the midsection. During this process, you can carefully blend the concealer into the lace until you have the concealer all over the middle. No matter what concealer you normally use, it will work well with lace. Because concealer should generally be lighter than your skin tone, like your own scalp.
Second, turn the lace part of the wig upside down to reveal the lace inside. Then take some foundation/concealer with your powder brush and lightly press onto your lace to blend in with your skin tone. Next, turn the wig back again and continue to apply foundation over the lace until you’re happy with the lace color.
Finally, you can spray some hairspray on the lace and the middle part, which can effectively dissolve the excess powder.
Note: This method is best for people who wear lace wigs for a short period of time, as the base makeup will fall off after about 2 to 3 days.
Tip 2: Lace Tint Mist or Makeup Mist
Do you want to know the secret to perfectly matching lace closures, wigs or fronts? It is a lace tint spray or a makeup spray. This highly pigmented spray is perfect for customizing and tinting your lace for a flawless look.
If you decide to choose this method, we sincerely recommend that you apply lace tinting spray or makeup spray to wet lace and the back of lace and let it air dry or completely dry for a few minutes. For a darker lace color, apply several coats at a time.
Tip 3: Dye the lace
Step 1: Fill a medium bowl with hot water and choose a dye that suits your skin tone. Remember that hot water can help the lace absorb the dye.
Step 2: Mix the dye with hot water until your desired color is achieved.
Step 3: Gently place the lace in the dye, then dip the lace into the dye for about ten seconds. Then you need to check often whether the lace color is the desired effect. If you want a darker lace color, repeat the process until you get the lace color you want. Don’t let your hair soak in the dye. If you’re a beginner, it’s a good idea to test a small piece of excess lace on your forehead ahead of time. You can carefully monitor how quickly the color absorbs into the lace. Remember, you can always go darker but not lighter when it comes to lace color. Therefore, you’d better go through the process step by step to make sure the lace isn’t too dark.
Step 4: Gently and thoroughly wash your lace with cold water to allow the lace color to set properly. Of course, you can also use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to rinse out any remaining dye from your hair. After washing and conditioning, simply allow the lace to air dry.
Compared to other methods, this method is relatively complicated, but the effect is permanent.
Tip 4: Black Tea Bags
If you don’t have dye on hand, let us teach you an easy way to adjust the color of your lace. Just prepare 10 black tea bags and a small piece of hot water in advance, and you can easily color lace. When you choose black tea, make sure they are 100% black tea with any blended ingredients.
First, you need to soak the tea bag in boiling water for about 5 minutes. After that, remove the tea bag from the pot and let the tea brew for another 3 minutes.
Then turn off the heat and let the water cool for two minutes until it reaches the right temperature.
Hold the end of the wig and dip the lace into the tea.
Just like tip 3, you should always check the lace color to get the correct color.
The final step is to wash your lace wig with shampoo and conditioner, making sure you wash the lace thoroughly to get rid of the tea smell.
How to light lace
When you find that your lace is darker than your scalp, or you accidentally flood your lace for too long when you’re coloring it, you can try to leaching the Knot.
Bleach knots are known to lighten the color of your lace. You can pour bleach into a bowl and add the cream developer to the bowl. Then blend until the consistency is thick enough so that it doesn’t soak into the lace and bleach the hair. Turn the front lace wig over and lightly apply the bleach mixture to the lace to make sure the lace is completely covered with the bleach. Let the bleach sit for at least 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water. If possible, you can use a neutralizing shampoo to stop it from over-processing.
