Wig-drying is a complicated task. It’s super time-consuming, and on top of that, it’s hard to get the cap or roots 100 percent dry. Have a look below for how you can dry your wig correctly and faster in order to preserve the shape and avoid damage.
1. Do Not Comb It When Wet
The important thing you must know is that your wig is most fragile and fragile when wet. Therefore, it is best not to comb your hair when the wig is damp or damp. That’s because combing wet hair can damage the cuticles that protect the hair fibers of a human wig, increasing the risk of breakage.
Therefore, you should wait until your wig is 100% dry before brushing it.
2. Pat Dry With A Towel
When your wig gets wet after washing, it’s at its most fragile. The weight of moisture in the hair can actually stretch the wig fibers, deforming the wig and making it ill-fitting. In this case, you need to use a clean, absorbent towel to gently pat off excess moisture from the wig. Do not twist, squeeze or rub the wig with a towel. For example, place a clean damp wig in a dry towel for five minutes to absorb further moisture.
3. Use A Hairdryer On A Low Set
While human hair wigs can withstand very low heat from a hair dryer, the wig must be mostly dried first to reduce exposure to any heat. If you have a human hair wig and are in a hurry to dry it, you can let it air dry to at least half-dry before using the blow dryer on a cold or low air setting.
4. Air Dry In The Shade
If you have enough time, you can dry the wig and wig in the shade, not in direct sunlight or in the bathroom. UV rays can dry out a person’s hair, weaken it, and even fade hair color. And wigs can cause mold if they are exposed to too much moisture and steam! If you have a synthetic wig, do not use a blow dryer on synthetic hair and allow the wig to air dry completely overnight in a place with good air circulation.
5. Use A Wig Stand
Wig stands are often used to dry wigs between washes. Storing wigs on a flat surface or hooks after washing can cause them to dry out in odd shapes. If you don’t use a stand to dry a clean wig, it can warp and flatten, making it look very unnatural. It might even stretch the wig cap so your wig won’t fit as expected.
