How Do You Fix Damaged Hair Extensions?

Just like our own natural hair, whether it is human hair extensions or synthetic hair extensions will look dry, frizzy, or lifeless. Frequent use of hot tools can damage your wig, even a human hair wig, unless you use the proper precautions.

So whether it’s caused by hot tools or improper care, there are a few easy things you can try to fix dry hair extensions.

1. Do A Hot Oil Treatment

To repair dry extensions, you can opt for a hot oil treatment on your wig, which heals split ends, repairs damage, reduces breakage, and leaves hair looking healthier and shinier.

❄ To use oil, heat according to package directions. In general, it usually involves heating in hot water or in a microwave.

❄ Then massage the oil into the extension and comb through the hair with a wide-tooth comb to distribute it evenly.

❄ Next, put on a plastic shower cap and wait 5-15 minutes for the oil to absorb into the hair.

❄ Finally, rinse off the oil with lukewarm water, blot dry with a towel, and air dry.

During this process, be sure to avoid applying the oil directly to the bond between the hair and the extension. Also, be careful not to rub, scrub or rub your hair

2. Boiling water treatment

The boiling water treatment method is commonly used to restore dry and damaged human hair extensions.

❄ Simply bring a small pot of water to a boil until it is hot.

❄ Add a few drops of olive or coconut oil and two scoops of conditioner.

❄ Then carefully place the dry extension in hot water and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes.

❄ Take the wet extensions again, place them on a towel, then gently press the towel against the fabric to remove excess moisture.

❄ Put some of your favorite leave-in conditioner in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, then smooth the conditioner throughout the braid to distribute it evenly.

❄ Hang the hair braids on a wig stand and let them air dry.

3.Try Not To Wash Your Hair Extensions Too Regularly

Try not to wash your hair too often

Do not over-wash hair extensions. This is because washing your extensions too frequently will remove any natural oils more quickly, causing them to dry out more quickly.

If you’re a daily shampoo person, at least you’ll need to skip a day between washes, but ideally, you’ll only shampoo 2-3 times a week. Or you can use dry shampoo instead of regular shampoo.
